Last weekend I was part of the most romantic gesture: the proposal of Rowan Campher to Samantha Harris.
Rowan contacted me with the strange and somewhat daunting request to photograph his proposal to his bride to be. The only thing was, we had to keep it a surprise until the last minute. We arranged to meet at the Bryanston Organic Market the morning of the 11th, with only a photo of the couple as guidance! I positioned myself in such as way to see them enter the gate, and as I casually walked past, camera in hand as though taking photos of the market, I winked to let him know it was on! So I followed them around as they browsed and had breakfast. The eagerness of some stall holders to have their photo taken, yes Hal from Song of India, this is you; made my story more believable. But then came a twist, as Samantha decided to come chat with me to find out whether I do wedding photography, as her and Rowan had discussed the idea of getting married. Rowan quickly played it to our advantage by suggesting that we find a quiet place (which we had already arranged) to do a couple of photos of them. And after a few pics he drew her closer and whispered in her ear… Here is the full story of how it played out.
From myself, Rowan and Samantha, we would like to say a huge thank you to Annette from Manor House Flowers or allowing us into her space to do the proposal!
