At Field Photography we love the unusual and exciting, and as such Carmen & Phil’s Friday night cocktail wedding at Katy’s Palace Bar was a real treat! This couple had the right idea, keeping their event in line with their sophisticated style and fun personalities. I think one of my favourite moments of the night was when I turned around to the see the groom on the decks, setting the beats for the party!
With the ceremony only starting at 6pm on a Friday evening, Carmen spent the afternoon at the five star hotel “Fairlawns” with her bridesmaids, mom and sister. Carmen’s sister made a special effort with her “Something Old, Something New” which included a Lucky Penny and photo-frame with an image of their dad who is no longer with them. A lot of love went into these ideas, each beautifully wrapped and tagged. Hair and make-up was done by Chantelle Landman, and I got a chance to play with the macro rings during the session for some close-up action. Carmen’s bouquet featured indigenous plants like the protea and rock roses set amongst fynbos. The succulents were also pulled through into the table decor. As it was a cocktail event there were no formal place settings, however the tables were beautifully decorated with geometric vases and wire decor elements giving the scene a contemporary twist. I really love the eclectic mix of the decor at Katy’s, ranging from vintage 70’s pinball machines to Indonesian furniture pieces. It is a place of memories, filled with items that hold stories of forgotten times and places, and the perfect place to capture new ones.
I wish this awesome couple all the happiness in the world! Thank you for choosing us to capture your memories!
